Crisps for Conversations – Helping the Nation Open Up About Their Mental Health
The Yorkshire Crisp Company, from Wales Bar near Sheffield is delighted to announce participation in producing pub snack for SMUG after well-known Beavertown Brewery joined forces with suicide prevention charity, Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) to introduce their ‘Open Up’ campaign, which features limited-edition ‘crisps for conversations’.
The campaign plays on the classic tradition of opening up a bag of crisps to share with your mates in the pub, and comes as research commissioned by Beavertown Brewery has found that despite (55%) of adults in the UK admitting to having struggled with their mental health, nearly half (41%) admit to feeling ‘uncomfortable’ opening up to a friend about it.
Expertly developed and manufactured by the Yorkshire Crisp Company for SMUG, the delicious Cheddar & Jalapeño-flavoured crisps, come packed with questions and prompts printed on the interior of the packets, to encourage people to open up about how they’re feeling. These questions, designed by CALM, include the likes of “What gets you through tough times?” and “If you could give your younger self advice, what would it be?” to kickstart deeper conversations amongst friends.
The innovative crisp packets designed by SMUG and produced by Parkside Flexibles will be given out for free at over 260 participating Young’s pubs and independent venues across the UK throughout April every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tim Wheatley, of The Yorkshire Crisp Company, said: “We are delighted to have played a pivotal role in developing and manufacturing the Cheddar & Jalapeño flavoured crisps for such an honourable campaign for Beavertown Brewery and the Campaign Against Living Miserably’s ongoing partnership – ‘We Are Not Alone’.
We take great pride in producing our own delectable flavours for Yorkshire Crisps and our team has put a lot of time and effort into developing the new Cheddar & Jalapeño flavour for SMUG for this project.
“We are certain the Beavertown crisps we have developed and manufactured, along with the innovative SMUG designed packaging, which was produced by fellow Yorkshire company Parkside Flexibles, is a real conversation starter and encourages men to ‘Open Up’.
